Mystery games for children and families
Investigations children can play from start to finish: no murder, no violence, nothing meant to frighten. Every story on this page has been read by ImmA, solution included, and carries the Child-friendly badge.
Child-friendly
Checked by ImmA, not by the author
The badge is not a tag an author picks. ImmA reads the whole story, characters, clues and solution included, and awards it only when nothing in it would be unsuitable for children of about 8 to 12.
Checked again whenever the story changes
When an author edits a story, its badge is removed until the new version has been read again. The badge always describes the story you will actually play.
Played together, on a phone
Children question the characters, scan the clues hidden on QR codes and solve the case as a team. An adult hosts the game: print the codes, place them, and the game guides the players.

Only scenarios with the Child-friendly badge are listed here.
Questions from parents
- What age is it for?
- The check is made for children of about 8 to 12, playing with their family. Younger children can play with an adult reading along: the stories contain nothing frightening.
- Who decides that a story is child-friendly?
- ImmA does, not the author. The whole story is read, solution included, and the badge is given only when it contains no murder, death, violence, weapons, kidnapping, horror, adult themes, alcohol or bad language.
- Is it still a real mystery?
- Yes. Something has been stolen, hidden or sabotaged, there are suspects and false leads, and the team has to work out who did it, how and why, just as in the investigations for adults.
- Do I need to know the story to host it?
- No. The game guides the players from clue to clue; the adult who hosts it places the QR codes and keeps an eye on the time.
